Ode To My Sister – Prepare Yourself

I have the coolest little sister in the world. Self-taught, no lessons.
Do you ever get anxious for something to happen? There can be so much going on, but you still want something more. I think this is the time when you should be preparing. The more productive you are during this phase, the more effective the entire process will be. It’s about the things you do in the down time.
Sometimes it feels that the preparation is ineffective and worthless. It is so worth it. It is like reading the Bible. It is not as effective if you only read it when you realize you need wisdom. You need to read it ever day so you have wisdom for when the situation arises.
Titus 3:14 Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.
Preparation is also important when you are trying to save money. If you don’t plan and budget, you can’t effectively save. You will always fall back on your instincts, which may deter you from your goal.
My sister is going to graduate from high school and will be leaving the country in the fall. We planned ahead and have tried to hang out as much as possible. If we didn’t prepare for this future event, we (well I) wouldn’t be ready for her to leave. She is beyond ready and was a long time ago. But I am ready, too. We have had a lot of fun memories, and there will more in the future, they will just be different.
She is about to be independent and will have all these new, cool things to face. She will, and has been, preparing for her future and I am so excited for her.

  1. Jenny I love this! You helped to make sense of my crazy feelings and I must say it made me feel better about where Natalie is headed. Thanks for writing this. I love you!
